 PROS

  •         Increase job opportunities Employment opportunities with Lynas stands at 350 direct employees, 300 contract staff and 1000 indirect employees through supporting industries.
  •         Enabling digital technology in Malaysia New materials and novel applications of them enable companies to produce more efficient, higher performance materials which meet the demand for faster, smaller and lighter products.

  •         Rapid world demand so that rare earth price stay strong in the future 


CONS
  •        The plant was build near residence area Radioactive exposure risk

  •         Waste disposal problem Waste will be stored in accordance with Malaysia’s regulatory requirements.


  •         Probability of radiation, groundwater, atmospheric and river pollution The refinery site is swampy, unstable, and subject to monsoonal flooding which raises major concerns for radioactive waste disposal.
